Western Canada: Alberta – Training Modules

To support the needs of our Western Canadian clients, CUI offers a series of single day training modules that will provide a customized training opportunity for Challenge Course Practitioners. 

  • Training modules will be held at Camp Kindle in Water Valley, AB.
  • Each training module will be limited to 12 participants.
  • All registration will be done with CUI.
  • Food and accommodation is available at Camp Kindle for an additional fee.

LEVEL 2 FULL CHALLENGE COURSE PRACTITIONER CERTIFICATION TRAINING

Six Days (9:00am-5:00pm & 6:30pm-8:30pm) April 22-27, 2019 $990

Pre-requisites: must complete and submit a CUI Portfolio form and meet the ACCT pre-requisites for entry into Level 2 Full. Must attend all five training modules.

This training will cover the curriculum for the Level 2 Full Challenge Course Practitioner Certification Training.

Participants will receive a Level 2 Training Manual, a CUI Operations Manual and a Skill’s Verification Document.

Low Element Facilitation Training Module

April 22, 2019 9:00am – 5:00pm $190

This training module will cover the facilitation and sequencing of low elements; teaching of spotting and trust activity sequences; adventure program and facilitation theory; risk management and operational procedures for low elements.

Participants will receive a CUI Operations Manual and a Letter of Participation.

Staff Technical Skills for Aerial Work

April 24, 2019 9:00am – 5:00pm $190

Pre-requisites: Participant must have attended Belay Skills for Climbing Walls & Challenge Courses training module and have demonstrated competent belay skills and ability to work at height.

This Training will cover the skills required to access Adventure Facilities to work at height including the use of cable grabs and bolt hangers; performing work stations and lost anchor retrievals. The staff skill of belay escapes will also be covered.

Participants will receive a CUI Operations Manual and a Skill’s Verification Document.

 

Level 2 Full Challenge Course Practitioner Testing/Recertification

April 27, 2019 9:00am – 5:00pm $190

Pre-requisites: Participant must have completed the Level 2 Training Module OR be re-certifying a Level 2 Full Challenge Course Practitioner Certificate.

This is a testing day for Level 2 Full Challenge Course Practitioner Certification.

Participants will receive a Level 2 Training Manual and a CUI Operations Manual. Upon successful completion, participants will receive Level 2 Full Challenge Course Practitioner Certification.

 

 

Belay Skills for Climbing Walls & Challenge Courses

April 23, 2019 9:00am – 5:00pm $190

This training module will cover the skills of belaying with belay posts, gri gri and friction devices on climbing walls and traversing elements on Challenge Courses; pre-use inspection of Life Safety equipment and Climbing Walls/Challenge Course elements. The use of Auto Belays for Climbing Walls will also be introduced.

Participants will receive a CUI Operations Manual and a Skill’s Verification Document.

 

Specialized Element Operational Procedures

April 25, 2019 9:00am-5:00pm $190

Pre-requisites: Participant must have attended the Belay Skills for Climbing Walls & Challenge Courses AND Staff Technical Skills for Aerial Work training modules.

This training module will cover the specialized operational procedures for the use of the Aerial Trust Dive; Flying Squirrel; Zip Line; Giant Swing and Static Belayed Courses.

Participants will receive a CUI Operations Manual and a Letter of Participation.

Participant Assistance & Rescues

April 26, 2019 9:00am – 5:00pm $190

Pre-requisites: must be enrolled in the Level 2 Full Certification Training Modules OR hold a current Level 2 Full Certificate OR be attending the Level 2 Full Re-Certification testing day.

This training will cover the required skills for participant assistance and rescues on challenge course facilities.

Participants will receive a CUI Operations Manual and a Skill’s Verification Document.
