Training Services

Within Canada, different provinces have regulatory bodies that oversee the operation of some components of Adventure Facilities such as Zip Lines and Free Fall Descender Devices.

Since 2014, in the Province of Ontario, the Technical Standards Safety Authority (TSSA) has required Zip Lines to be registered as an Amusement Device. This level of regulation has helped to standardize the operation of Zip Lines in the province. In 2018 Free Fall Descender Devices (QuickFlight, QuickJump for example) were added to the TSSA’s jurisdiction. More information about operating an Amusement Device in Ontario can be found here.

As a certified Amusement Device Mechanic, CUI is able to offer a full range of services to clients in Ontario to support the operation of their Zip Line or Free Fall Descender Device. Those services include:

  • Amusement Device Mechanic services (ADM). It is a requirement of the TSSA for sites operating an Amusement Device in Ontario to have a valid ADM.
  • Provide the required training for staff as Mechanic(s) in Training. This training will provide your staff with a TSSA 6.1, 6.2, 6.10 & 6.11 Skills Passport which allows them to complete the required pre-operational inspections for your amusement device(s).
  • Provide training in the operational and rescue procedures for your amusement device(s).

These custom training workshops are designed in consultation with you to ensure your training needs are met as well as ensuring you are TSSA compliant. Technical skills are trained in a logical progression designed to help staff comprehend why systems are developed the way they are. CUI trainers have extensive experience training on a variety of adventure facilities and different operating systems.

For facilities outside of Ontario, CUI is able to offer fully customizable amusement device workshops to ensure your staff are adequately prepared to operate your zip line or free fall descender device and that you are meeting any relevant provincial regulations.
