After training in culinary arts, Matt spent three years in the culinary industry; competing multiple times at national cooking events. Matt embarked on a journey leaving his New Zealand home searching for adventure and challenge.

Starting as an Outdoor Living Skills Specialist at Camp Henry Horner in the USA, Matt used his knowledge of the outdoors combined with his culinary skills to teach campers that there was more to outdoor cooking then banana boats and s’mores. Craving something more, Matt continued on at Henry Horner as a challenge course facilitator.

With a passion to explore, Matt found himself working for Sunshine Village in Banff, Alberta where his first snow experience inspired him to begin snowboarding. Matt’s strong leadership skills earned him a role as Base Foreman directing operations for his second winter at Sunshine.

Matt returned to Camp Henry Horner in the spring of 2008 to work as a Challenge Course Facilitator and has been involved in Challenges Courses ever since. Matt’s leadership and love of the outdoors brought him to Onondaga Camp in Ontario to manage their CUI built challenge course. While there, Matt completed his Level 2 certification with CUI which sparked his interest in the construction of challenge courses. Matt joined the CUI team in January of 2010.

When not working, Matt enjoys snowboarding, cooking in his outdoor wood fired oven, experiencing Canadian culture and staying in touch with friends and family in New Zealand and around the world.
